BOI Intensifies Investment Promotion Campaign in DTI-3’s NKAtbp
The Board of Investments (BOI) conducted an Investment Briefing and Counseling Seminar at Fontana Convention Center, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga on July 13, 2016 as part of the 3-day “Negosyo, Konsyumer At Iba Pa” (NKAtbp) Program of the Department of Trade and Industry-Region 3 (DTI-3).
NKAtbp, which was held from July 13-16, aimed to intensify public awareness on the programs, projects and services of DTI, encourage collaboration of different stakeholders, and strengthen MSMEs, investors, consumers and retailers.
With investment promotion as one of the agency’s primary mandates to realize its vision towards a more prosperous Philippines by 2016, the seminar catered to potential investors, front liners from different local government units (LGU), Negosyo Center counselors and investment promotion officers regionwide.
As the lead government agency responsible for the promotion of investments in the Philippines, BOI, headed by Director Domingo Bagaporo, introduced the participants to the various investment regulations that would aid them in growing their businesses or promote the country as an ideal business location to foreign investors.
The participants were also informed about the range of incentives available to local and foreign investors and the highlights of the Foreign Investments Act of 1991 (Republic Act No. 7042) while LGU representatives were given an overview on how to draft a Local Investments and Incentives Code (LIIC) to attract more investments in their respective areas.
The session also provided coaching to investment promotion intermediaries and government front liners on the guidelines, service standards, knowledge and skills necessary to facilitate the needs of prospective investors.
The Investment Briefing and Counseling Seminar was attended by 188 participants from Central Luzon provinces with notable attendance from two (2) local chief executives, Mayor Alicia Pizarro of Pilar, Bataan and Mayor Diosdado Reginaldo of Ramos, Tarlac.
