San Jose City I Power Corporation Expands Operations
The San Jose I Power Corporation is expanding its operations in the province of Nueva Ecija as it constructed another 12 megawatt (MW) rice husk-fired power plant as a result of the unified move of 21 major rice millers in San Jose City.
The 12 MW project will be connected to the Luzon Grid as a support energy project. According to I Power officials, their power plants are clean and equipped with electrostatic precipitator (ESP) limiting harmful emissions way below the limits set by the government compared to polluting fossil fuel-based generation facilities.
The plant’s electrical energy infusion to the grid will displace electricity generated from diesel and oil power plants and will have a combined greenhouse gas (GHG) avoided emission of around 70,000 tons annually. This is equivalent to taking off the road 13,176 passenger vehicles yearly or the carbon sequestered by 1,604,842 tree seedlings grown for 10 years.
With this expansion, Nueva Ecija is steadily building a name as a hub for renewable energy industry due to the large presence of green energy plants in the province.
