India’s Tata to expand BPO operations

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS)—the information technology (IT) services consulting and business solutions subsidiary of Indian multinational conglomerate Tata Group—is expanding its operations in the Philippines.

TCS Country Manager Vikram Singh said the company will be adding a 1,500-seat facility in Angeles City, Pampanga.

“Our next field of expansion is coming in Angeles City. The facility will be ready by month of May,” Singh added.

He, however, declined to mention the value of TCS’ investments in its new facility Central Luzon.

“We see that it is important to grow talent pool and the kind of value creation beyond Manila. Today most of IT-BPO (business process outsourcing) companies are headquartered and concentrated in Manila,” he noted.

Currently, TCS has six offices in the country located in Manila, Bonifacio Global City, and Pampanga.

“Filipino workers are very competitive and can grow this industry. The country just needs to enhance employability to deliver high value services,” Singh stressed.

Aside from TCS, Tata Group’s subsidiaries in the Philippines include Tata Communications and Tata Motors.
