Demonstrating a decisive and forward-looking shift toward sustainable, technology-driven agriculture, the Provincial Government of Bulacan, under the leadership of Governor Daniel R. Fernando, conducted an ocular visit and investment meeting on October 14, 2025, at the Metro Pacific Fresh Farms (MPFF) Greenhouse Facility in San Rafael, Bulacan. The activity highlighted the province’s commitment to modernizing agriculture and strengthening its position as an emerging Agri-investment hub.

The 3.5-hectare MPFF facility is the largest vegetable greenhouse in the Philippines. Operated through a joint venture between Metro Pacific Agro Ventures (MPAV) and the LR Group of Israel, the greenhouse demonstrates how global expertise and private sector innovation can be effectively applied to local agricultural development. The visit reaffirmed the Provincial Government’s support for MPFF’s pioneering initiatives.

Central to the facility’s features is its advanced controlled-environment agriculture (CEA) technology, which enables consistent, year-round production of premium-quality vegetables while using minimal water and soil inputs. The system represents a sustainable production model that addresses challenges in food security and environmental stewardship.

Governor Fernando lauded MPFF’s high-tech and sustainable greenhouse project, calling it a milestone for the province’s agricultural sector. He highlighted its potential to improve food security and provide economic opportunities for Bulacan’s farming communities. His remarks also underscored the importance of strong public-private collaboration in advancing inclusive, long-term provincial development.

“Ang proyektong ito ay isang malinaw na patunay na sa sama-samang pagkilos ng publiko at pribadong sektor, mapapabilis ang tuluy-tuloy na pagpapaunlad ng agrikultura sa lalawigan at makakalikha rin ng mas matatag na kinabukasan para sa mga magsasaka ng Bulacan (This project is a clear proof that through the concerted actions of the public and private sectors, the continuous development of agriculture in the province can be accelerated and a more stable future can be created for the farmers of Bulacan),” the governor said.

Looking ahead, MPFF announced plans to double the size of its greenhouse facility by 2026, reinforcing Bulacan’s position as a regional leader in agricultural innovation and setting a benchmark for modern farming practices in the country.

The official delegation included Atty. Jayric L. Amil of the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) and Ma. Gloria SF. Carrillo of the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO), reflecting a coordinated, multi-agency approach to supporting sustainable, investment-ready, and technology-driven agriculture in Bulacan. -Mary Grace E.
